There was a website designclient whose website hosting company (who we will refer to as "Example.com") deleted her shopping cart by accident, didn't back it up, and blamed her for "malicious code." She wrote the following email to her website designer:

Would you by any chance have a backup copy of my website from when you worked on it before? Evidently, recently Example.com said my account was identified to contain malicious material. They removed that stuff and asked me to go through the site to make sure there was no illegitimate material. I'm not sure what to do with it now, but they asked if I had a backup of the site. I know I had Example.com make a backup a year or better ago, and told them that. I'm so stupid anymore when it comes to websites. Let me know if you have a backup.

    • Load speed: If a page doesn't load quickly, surfers will go to a different website--likely your competitor's.
    • Avoiding Flash pages: Many users don't want to wait through Flash videos or click to bypass them.
    • Navigation menus: Using HTML links for navigation menus and styling them with CSS makes it easy to go from page to page.
